After a Year (trail under 168th Street Bridge closed in April 2023), the Trail around Zorinsky Lake with the underpass, has finally reopened.
I got a tip from a cycling friend and an environmental engineer on the project, with a link to a Omaha city website that stated the trail was to reopen on November 25th. I drove down 168th Street and noticed the barricades blocking the trail were removed. So, I decided to take a ide around the lake which I did.
The trail is definitely open. At the time I rode around the lake, November 26, there were a few areas that still needed a bit of cleanup and final touches.
I like the new guard rails that line the trail. This should prevent anyone from riding into the lake. Also, it should deter anyone from fishing from the trail, like what was common before.
You can check out the video which I edited, showing both sides of the underpass. Leave a comment as to what you think.
